Who We Are

Union de Vecinos is an organization of neighborhood committees building community power in Boyle Heights (East LA) and the City of Maywood. Our members represent all sectors of our community: tenants, homeowners, families, youth, seniors, immigrants, low income families, working class families, and small business owners. Union de Vecinos started in 1996 with 12 families fighting against the demolition of the Pico Aliso public housing projects. We have grown to a member base of hundreds of families who are:

Preserving local neighborhoods and building community
Fighting for the right to housing and against displacement
Promoting economic and environmental justice
