Los Altares de Union de Vecinos

Every year Union de Vecinos’ members build altars in our office and different parts of the neighborhoods where we work.  The altars are a reminder of our traditions and an opportunity to reflect.

In the Mexican tradition of Dia de Muertos with the altar we remember those who have left and celebrate their lives.  Is a remeberance of our past and those who have accompanied us.  That is why,  in Union de Vecinos, we use the opportunity to remeber the road we have walked, our struggles, our victories  and the unfinished road ahead of us.

This year we remember our dreams as immigrants, the work we have done to reduce violence in our neighborhoods, our desire of healthy, affordable homes, and our thirst for clean water in Maywood.
