Teaching people how to vote

United we Vote is a campaign to promote civic participation in Boyle Heights.  We have developed Network of Neighborhood Committees in 15 precincts in Boyle Heights to address all sorts of Neighborhood issues as in our Campaign for a Clean Safe and Habitable Community.

We were mentioned in The Nation Magazine in an October 18th Article.  The campaign consited in identifying ocasional voters and mobilizing them to get out and vote on November 2nd.  By the 3rd of November we contacted 3,000 voters and 400 new registered voters.  Our volunteers and leaders were present in 12 precincts in Boyle Heights encouraging people to vote.  Our effort was discussed in La Opinion on November 3rd and November 4th

Unidos Vencemos

Campaņa por Una Comunidad Limpia Segura y Habitable / Campaign for a Clean Safe and Habitable Community is a campaign to improve the quality of life for the people who live work and play in Boyle Heights.  We believe that the people who live in the neighborhood and the institutions that represent them and serve them are equally responsible for the maintenance and improvement of the neighborhood.  We started with seven neighborhood committees cleaning their alleys and streets and grew into a neighborhood movement seeking a better lighted alleys,  paved streets, and an improved safer traffic pattern for the people who live in Boyle Heights that brought several improvements into Boyle heights this year.

Our Councilman, Antonio Villaraigosa mentioned and congratulated our campaign in a  press release. We also appeared on an October 14th article in the East Side Sun
